ESR14 – Erika Erika

I was born and raised in Indonesia. I obtained my Bachelor degree in Biological Science at Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia. After I finished my Bachelor degree, I worked in a Pharmaceutical Company in Indonesia for a couple of years, where I was responsible in cultivating human stem cells for regenerative therapy. Determined to pave my way in science, I moved to Europe where I studied my Master degree in Biomedical Science at the University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands.
I am now working as a PhD student at the University of Heidelberg, Germany under the supervision of Professor Bieback. As part of the RenalToolBox project, my focus is on the characterization of stem cells obtained from adipose and skin tissue as regenerative therapy for kidney disease. We believe that stem cells can alleviate renal injury by modulating the crosstalk between cells in renal tubules.
